24 Weeks: My Baby is Growing!

Along: 24 weeks

Size of baby:  Noah is the size of a corn on the cob. He is 12.5 inches and weighs about 1.25 lbs. His lungs are rapidly developing in preparation for his breathing. His ears and fingernails are fully developed.  Supposedly by the end of this week, he could be as much as 2 pounds and 14 inches long.  He’s quite the growing machine.

Total Weight Gain/Loss:  13ish pounds.  He is really starting to pop out. For the first time yesterday, a man knew that I was pregnant without me having to tell him. He asked me when I was due-I was shocked and relieved. I might be at the point where people realize it’s a baby and not a belly. I told the man it was a risky question. What would have happen if I wasn’t pregnant? He laughed and said I had the “glow.” (Might just be sunburn from swimming and tennis on Monday).

Maternity Clothes:   I have two pairs of jeans that fit and two pairs of dress pants. I also have some casual shorts that still fit. I’m thinking at this rate though, in the next two weeks, I’ll be in maternity pants all the time.
Gender:  Noah Walker Clem. A BOY!
Movement:  Yes! He kicked Matt in the jaw (as I posted yesterday) and Matt saw my belly move from the kicks. It’s the cutest thing. Matt loves how Noah moves and he can feel it. I think Matt is proud to think that we have quite the little football punter or champion boxer on our hands.
Sleep: Hit or miss. Last night- woke up every couple hours and just laid there. Two nights ago- solid sleep. It just depends. I took  a lot of cat naps this past three day weekend (WONDERFUL). I have found that when I read, I can take naps. I don’t really have time to do that during the weekdays, but I’m going to start reading when I need a nap. It’s a sure bet for a wonderful nap with the Snoogle pillow.
What I miss:    A full night sleep.
Cravings:  sweets, bread, fruit, toasted turkey/cheese sandwiches
Symptoms: Heartburn, hip pain, and fatigue
Best Moment This Week: Matt and I have tweaked a common card game, Crazy 8’s, and we have added our own rules and regulations. We have been playing at least an hour a night usually after dinner when I’m in the comatose food stage. It’s been SO much fun. Games are my favorite and I really love the quality time we get competing for the winning spot in this game. You might call us game nerds. We wouldn’t deny the accusation.

We had the opportunity last Thursday to meet some of my Mom's family in Johnson City. My mom had not seen her cousin and husband for 35 years. Her cousin's husband is a pastor in Oregon. We had a wonderful time getting to chit chat and wish they would come back to Texas soon.
