20 weeks- half way there!

Along: 20 weeks

Size of baby: Baby is the size of a small cantaloupe. Love bug is 6 1/2 inches long from head to bottom.  Baby should weigh around 10.2 ounces.

Total Weight Gain/Loss: 10-12 I would guess- depending on the day.

Maternity Clothes: - Mix of non and maternity. I have phased out a lot of my normal pants- even with belly band.

Gender: I’d guess boy. We will keep name and gender secret until the end. We don’t have set names yet, so I couldn’t divulge even if I wanted.

Movement: On 3.28 I felt him/her kick on outside of my stomach. Now I just need to plan for boys to be around so they can both feel it. Deacon has become much more aware of baby now after the sonogram- it’s sweet to see him ask/talk about baby. He put his sticker from the doctor’s on my belly because he wanted baby to have it. Big brother will be a great title for this kid- he’s a lover.

Sleep: 3-5am I’m awake with huge revelations/realizations. It’s the weirdest thing, but I’ll survive.

What I miss: sushi, margaritas, bike rides (which I will be able to enjoy all in less than 4 months, so really- it’s not a big deal)

Cravings: apples, bagels, mocha frapps, salad, cheese

Symptoms: exhaustion, swollen feet at the end of the day, pimples, headaches/nausea depending on the day

Best Moment This Week:  Noah and Matt are in VA looking at our new stomping grounds. It’s just me and Deacon holding up the house for the next couple of days. When Matt is gone, I let the boys sleep with me. It’s Deacon’s favorite thing. Last night after we finished watching a movie, he asked to go lay in my bed and talk about school/work. He’s really into snuggling and discussing life- my kind of kid! J

19 weeks - Life is sweet!

Along: 19 weeks

Size of baby: Baby is the size of a zesty zucchini. Love bug is growing hair and has fully developed lips. The areas of the brain that control each of the senses are currently developing.

Total Weight Gain/Loss: Ten pounds. I really thought it might be fifteen, so I’m totally OK with ten.

Maternity Clothes: Summer is coming which means HOT in Texas.  It was 86 degrees on Saturday and I was really struggling. I can tell this August baby will really test my ability to stand the heat. That being said- I’ve loved dresses to help keep me cool.

Gender: We had checkup on Tuesday- heart beat was 158. I had the sonogram on Wednesday- heartbeat was at 144. I thought girl Tuesday and boy Wednesday. This will be a back/forth type thing- I guarantee. Matt is 95% sure it’s a boy.

Movement: Yes! This was affirmed watching our little one kick and punch on the sonogram machine. The boys kept saying baby was a ninja.

Sleep: I find myself usually awake from 3-5 am. If I fallback asleep, it’s a good night. If I’m up for the day starting at oh you know- 3 AM-pregnancy brain is a real issue. I found I left cream cheese on the dryer after using it for our bagels. I can never remember where I put my phone, keys, purse, shoes, credit card, etc.

What I miss: Brushing my teeth without gagging, enjoying smoothies (huge texture issues)

Cravings: chocolate, Greek salad, salt/vinegar potato chips, oranges, bananas, apples, and CARBS

Symptoms: Tailbone pain- I know why some people get out of chairs funny while pregnant. I feel like I broke my tailbone after sitting at work all day. I have dry skin that causes need for lotion twice a day. I have more pimples than usual (oh puberty symptoms, nice to see you again).

Best Moment This Week: On Wednesday, we had our 19/20 week sonogram. I’m due August 13th and baby was measuring right on schedule. We have experienced loss and just a lot of sadness lately with friends. To hear that baby is healthy and everything looks good- it was just such a joy/relief. I do not take it for granted and realize this little life is our sweet miracle.

More to come on timing of this baby and all the good things God has done through our miracle....

18 Weeks- that's right I'm back

Along: 18 weeks

Size of baby: Baby is the size of a sweet potato.  Love bug’s facial features are developing. He/she is kicking around and can hiccup, yawn, and swallow.

Total Weight Gain/Loss: I would guess 10-12 pounds. I have an appointment next week. I’m still having the nausea but it hasn’t necessarily inhibited the appetite. Ooops- really loving those empty empty carbs.

Maternity Clothes: - I have LOVED maternity pants and belly band these past two weeks. The pressure on my stomach of a normal pant is too much.  I think the need for stretchy pants is a lot sooner than it was with Deacon and Noah. I guess my stomach knows pregnancy well now, so it does it more quickly.

Gender: I would think boy. I also have had extended morning sickness so maybe girl. It is hard to know, but we will do surprise gender like Deacon. We LOVE the surprise.

We really don’t have a preference and struggle when people comment on how we need a girl. Of course we would love it, but I also love being a boy mom. It’s all I know, so the thought of three little boys running around really makes me just as excited and pink and lace.

Movement: Yes! This happened around 15 weeks. It is so fun, and I can’t wait for the boys to feel it. They are so excited to meet baby in August.

Sleep: I have midnight insomnia. I usually do this for a couple nights in a row and then sleep like a rock come day three of it.

What I miss: I miss enjoying coffee. I still have some in the morning, but I do not enjoy it like I used to pre-pregnancy. I also miss not feeling nauseous. I have a hard time wanting to cook or meal planning. I don’t really have cravings- more aversions and it makes the joy of eating and cooking harder.

Cravings: Bagels & cream cheese, peanut m&ms, fruit (bananas)

Symptoms: I have strong food aversions. I also have issues with texture- like I can’t do smoothies. I have headaches at night and extreme exhaustion most nights. I need about twelve hours of sleep I feel like.

Best Moment This Week: Matt’s mom came to help with boys during spring break. She made meat loaf and a homemade cake. Let me say- after working a long day, there is nothing better. It’s been such a joy to have her around. We are very thankful.
