Deacon is Four Months!

Weight/Length- At four months, Deacon Matthew is 25 inches and 14 pounds 9 ounces

Eating- Deacon eats every three hours during the day and cluster feeds right before he goes down. I would say he feeds 6-7 times a day. He is still on mommy’s milk exclusively. I have been tempted to introduce solids in hope of making him sleep better through the night again, but I’m still holding off. I may cave- we will see.

Bedtime/Awake- Our once great sleeper has hit the four month sleep regression in stride. He is up at least once a night- usually around 3 am. This has been hard in the midst of my busy season, but I am just trying to take each day at a time- really cherishing the sweet moments I get to have with him. Our little man wakes up to start his day around 7 and usually goes down around 7 to 7:30. As for naps, Deacon is pretty predictable. He takes 3 short cap naps in the morning and then takes a long 3 hour one usually from 2-5.

Diapers- He is in 1’s or 2’s. We are finishing up our 1’s as we speak.

Clothes- Deacon is in 3 months or 3-6 months.

Dislikes- Deacon has had a cold and does not enjoy the nose sucker. He moves his head to make it extra difficult for his mommy. Deacon does not like tummy time, but we are working on this. I have seen him start to enjoy it in the past couple weeks. I have my fingers crossed!

Likes- Deacon loves to suck on his hands and play with toys that rattle. He is very interactive these days and loves to cooo and oooo. He loves to watch what others are doing and be in the midst of chaos. We have found that the more stimulation for him while he is awake- the better. It makes for longer naps in the afternoon. Bath time is the best and always a joy! He is a pacifier baby just like Noah. He also loves to be worn- he is in the baby b’jorn a LOT!

Favorite memories of the month- Deacon started consistently rolling from tummy to back around 3.5 months. He could do it before, but it was hit or miss. It is so much fun to watch as his motor skills develop.  He is good at holding things- and I am able to now carry him on my hip.

He has started to make noises that sound like mumumumumum, and it is awesome. I know it’s not intentional, but I look forward to when mama and dada to come out of his mouth. I don’t have a favorite memory of the month. The best thing lately has been watching Noah truly love on his little brother and Deacon light up while Noah holds him. It’s incredible and amazing. I am just so grateful!
