Our Pea in the Pod is 4 months!

Weight/Length: We have his 4 month appointment on Wednesday at 9:15, so I will know the exact measurements then. It is always fun to guess, so here I go. I am going to guess the nugget is 15 pounds and 23 inches in length.

Eating: Noah feeds every two to three hours during the day. He is still just on mommy’s milk, but we did let him try a little bit of banana this past week. He smiled very big!
That's right, cheer yourself on little buddy!

I will be interested to see what the doctor thinks about solids. I have a feeling she will want us to wait until six months because he is already a chub and doing fine just with milk. We bought rice cereal back when he was two weeks old-dreaming of the days he would sleep through the night, so if she gives me the go ahead, we might bust out the cereal this month.
Notice the endless chub rolls...

Bedtime/ Awake:  So homeboy got a little bit off schedule the past two weeks. He had been sleeping through the night, but I think the four month growth spurt hit and he was growing and needing more food throughout the day and night. It made for some long days at work, but I pray we are back to 10 hour spans of sleeping. He has been doing that the past two nights again, so we are one foot in the right direction. There is also a possibility of teeth coming in. This nugget is drooling non-stop, irritable when eating sometimes, and just seems a little fussier. I am going to ask the doctor on Wednesday for her opinion. If this is the case, then we will be buying teething tablets and mouth gel as soon as possible.

Oh Hey Dadddddy-OOOOOOOO!

Diapers: He is in 2’s. I’d say we change him about 6 to 8 times a day depending on the blow outs. We have a rooter tooter.

Nom Nom Nom

Mr. Personality
Clothes: He is in 3 month or 3 to 6 months outfits. He is growing like a weed- well all but the hair. He looks bigger every time I get him out of his crib.
Favorites: He loves to stand up and look around. He constantly wants to be stimulated and played with- makes for lots of trips to stores, parks, friends’ houses, restaurants, etc. He loves bath time and splashing around. Noah’s two newest and favorite finds are his hands and feet. He found his hands a while back, but on 2.21 he found his feet. Noah thinks they are great and loves to grab onto them.

Block Feet Party of One

Dislikes: Noah Walker doesn’t like to go too long without a nap. He doesn’t like losing his pacifier. He also doesn’t like being swaddled and put down if he doesn’t think it is time to sleep.

My Boys!
Tricks: He can sometimes hold his bottled of pumped milk if he is in the mood. He can stand up while holding onto our hands and do the “stanky leg”. He takes one step forward and then stops. It looks like he is dancing- that is why we deemed it the “stanky leg.” He is cooing and talking all the time. We haven’t really heard any change in syllabuls yet, but according to the bump, we should hear things that sounds like baba, dada, mama, etc. fairly soon. He can’t really sit up yet, but the bumpo is helping him gain the strength. Probably my favorite trick of the month is that he recognizes Matt and me. His face lights up when we enter the room. He knows when both of us are talking to him and will track us all around the room if somebody else is holding him.  People always marvel at how aware he is for a four month old. It makes for a very proud mommy and daddy.

Ok Mom, Get some clothes on me already.

It is incredible how much he has grown this month. I recently have been challenged with this verse, and I hope to memorize and abide by it always.

Psalm 112:1-2
Praise the LORD!
How joyful are those who fear the LORD
and delight in obeying his commands.
Their children will be successful everywhere;
an entire generation of godly people will be blessed.

To College Station We Went..

Homeboy and I survivied- I didn’t know what a road trip to College Station there and back in 8 hours would look like, but we did it.  Let me just say, it was 100% worth it and I would do it all over again and again. Noah has been DYING to meet Kaleb (me too), so it was the best road trip of the year and one of those memories I will never forget. Noah was a little stud car buddy;there was a little fussing, but that’s pretty typical when you take a four month old (ok, 5 days shy of four month old) all by your lonesome to Aggie-ville. Boo Aggies. (Sorry, I shouldn't say that outloud). Anyways,  I did manage to feed him a bottle while driving (I don’t recommend it), but I was pretty proud of myself. I wasn’t too excited when I went to get him out of the car seat and had a friendly visit with a lot of white spit-up goo all over me and him. Oh well, it is what it is!
So I might be bias, but the Baker family is the CUTEST. I’m serious- this little peanut was precious and has more hair than nugget Noah. Kaleb Anthony is perfect. God made him absolutely perfect. It was too sweet for words to watch Noah look at him- he seemed enamored.  I think Noah knows that this little guy will be his best buddy for life.  Here are some pictures. I will let her tell you the details on her blog about his miraculous birth, but I could not wait to share a couple pictures of the bunch.

Mommy & Kaleb- Look at that hair!!!!

Double trouble. The Buds.

Me with Kaleb- pardon the post pregnancy hair do. Ya. My hair is the worst these days.

Daddy and Mini Me- Kaleb Anthony
What a blessed day!

Dislikes and Loves- Post Pregnancy

Post Pregnancy Dislikes
  • So I am usually a pretty positive person, but there are some things I do not enjoy after having a little nugget. The main one being hair loss. IT IS SO ANNOYING! I swear I find my hair everywhere- including in Noah’s diaper. Now how does that even happen? I’m hoping this will stop soon, and I can go back to brushing my hair once a day rather than 10 times. I feel like I might go bald. Noah and I seriously might have that in come. BLAH!
  • I love that with breastfeeding/pumping you can eat whatever you want, but I dislike that I’m always hungry. I walk from one room to another, and I feel like I just got a work out and I need another snack. I seriously think I eat more than Matt right now, and Mat is a BIG eater.
Post Pregnancy Loves
  • I love fitting into my old clothes. It is so refreshing to have a closet full clothes that fit again.
  • I love being able to bend over and tie my shoe.
  • I love not having to get up and use the bathroom 10 times a night.
  • I enjoy being able to squeeze between chairs and small spaces.
  • I love that I actually get to see my little boy every day and not have to wonder what he looks like or whose personality he will have. (Noah’s looks right now- Matt; personality- more like me)
  • Most of all I love being a complete family. Now there may be more kids to come in the future- but right now we are the Clem’s party of 3 and I LOVE IT!
Tomorrow, Noah and I are off to College Station- Yay Baby Kaleb!

Go Ahead...Cruise the Town!

Being a mom might be my favorite…
Hi Bumpo Bald Baby!
Don’t get me wrong. It is hard. It is ugly. There are sleepless nights, BUT I can’t say that there is any job I’d rather be doing.
This week has been full of awesome days with Noah. I have discovered that homeboy is just like his mom; he doesn’t want to sit in an apartment all day. He wants to be out and about. He likes to cruise the town. I have taken him grocery shopping, to Nordstrom’s Rack, to the trail, and around the neighborhood- pure fun, smiles, and giggles.
He sees himself in the phone :)
When we go to stores, we shop as one mama/baby unit- I wear the carrier. He loves it and GOES NUTS. Stores provide so much stimulation with all the colors and lights that he gets to explore/see. It also allows for a lot of hand chewing time (currently his new/only hobby).  (Sidenote- Valentine’s candy was on sale since it was the day after, so I found some pretty good steals on Wednesday). I always love a good bargain.
4 real mom!

I’m serious when I say this- mom’s, don’t just stay inside with the baby. Be brave and get out. I wasn’t really brave with Noah for a long time. I always worried what would happen if he had a meltdown with just me. I would stay in the house because I knew I could handle his meltdowns in the house.  Really, if he has a meltdown, I will leave wherever I am at or fix the problem, and I will move on. It really isn’t that big of a deal. In my mind, I thought it would be too hard, but really, it isn’t. Being independent and cruising the town is worth the occasional meltdowns.

Hope y'all enjoyed some pictures of my crazy boy!

Kounting on Kaleb

Time flies. I'm serious- I mean look at us. I believe this was taken in August, and it honestly feels like yesterday. How can she be due in a WEEK?

The Clems are so excited about Kaleb. We are KOUNTING on him to arrive SOON! J He is due on Valentines, and we are in full anticipation of his arrival. He will be Noah’s best buddy; they have been hanging out since both were in the womb- it is destiny.

We think Kaleb is already wonderful and Noah can't wait to meet his brother from another mother- come quickly! Click here to read more! http://lukeandashley.wordpress.com/

Speaking of Eating...

These days it seems like Noah will put about anything and everything in his mouth. I keep waiting for him to be a thumb sucker,  but he seems to prefer the fingers and the fists. Here are some funny pictures of Noah gnawing on his digits and toys.

Noah eats his hands and toys, while I've been trying out some new recipes. This has been Matt and my favorite so far, so I thought I'd share.

Ingredients:
8 ounces bow tie pasta
1 pound ground beef
½ onion, chopped
½ green bell pepper, chopped
1 (15-ounce) can tomato sauce
1 tablespoon chili powder
Salt to taste
1 cup sour cream
1 cup salsa
½ cup sliced black olives
¼ cup sliced jalapenos (optional)
1 tomato, chopped
1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese

Directions:Cook the pasta using package directions and cooking for 7 minutes; drain. Brown the beef in a skillet, stirring until crumbly; drain. Add the onion and green pepper and mix well. Cook until the onion is tender, stirring constantly. Stir in the tomato sauce, chili powder, and salt. Combine the pasta, ground beef mixture, sour cream, salsa, black olives, jalapenos, and tomato in a bowl and mix well. Spoon into a 9×11-inch or 9×9-inch baking dish. Sprinkle with the cheese. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 to 30 minutes or until brown and bubbly.

Hope y'all enjoy!

3 Generations

Matt’s dad had an awesome opportunity this past weekend to come visit us in Austin! Dave called us two weeks ago and told us his work was sending him down to Texas- we were stoked. He had business to attend to on Friday, but we hung out with him all day Saturday and Sunday morning. It was a quick visit, but we loved having him. Noah has changed so much since December- Noah is Mr. Personality these days. (When you see your child every day, you don’t really pick up on the change but visitors always comment on how much Noah has grown- tubby, tall but still bald).

The Boys
We took Dave to Rudy’s- which he said he could eat for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It is always a toss-up between Saltlick and Rudy’s on which one offers the best barbeque. Matt and I go back and forth, but we believe each has their advantages.  We like to take visitors to both to get their opinion.  Dave said Rudy’s was his favorite.
We played a game of scrabble which Matt dominated in- I’m still bitter but I did manage to cheat and make up a word on the board, so I guess I can’t complain. It was a blast, and we can’t wait to go up to Virginia around Thanksgiving so we can meet the Blankenship’s baby, eat great food with both the sides of Matt’s family, and play some football. Happy Tuesday!

Noah Likes....

To show off his chubby cheeks.

To munch on Grandpa's hands.

To hang out with Mom on Wednesday and Friday...all day!

To help dad clean-Matt and Noah cleaned on Saturday- this was how they did it!
